Munhall, Pennsylvania, is a borough in Allegheny County on the south bank of the Monongahela River, about 7 miles southeast of downtown Pittsburgh. Incorporated in 1901 and named for John Munhall, the borough grew around the Carnegie Steel Company's Homestead Steel Works, much of which stood on Munhall land. Today The Waterfront district fills the former mill site with shopping, dining, and entertainment, while the neighborhoods above it keep their steel-era character. Students attend the Steel Valley School District, and the Great Allegheny Passage trail runs along the river toward downtown. The Borough of Munhall maintains local parks, services, and community programs for residents. History on the hill, new investment along the river, and Pittsburgh minutes away.
